“It is important in this race to have strong support from folks with a wide range of backgrounds. I am grateful to have that from law enforcement professionals to business leaders to legislators and GOP grassroots leaders. These folks know that proven leadership matters, and that I have the leadership experience and training to get the job done. I am particularly proud of the support of a groundbreaking Sheriff like Bruce Bryant, who was among the first in the nation to certify his department to directly handle illegal immigration cases. Sheriff Bryant has become a legend in the law enforcement community, and I am pleased to have him on the team.”
Connor Statement on H.3245, the 24 Hours for Life bill
February 23rd, 2010Certain Senators are playing politics with the lives of children by delaying and filibustering this bill. I call on the Senate to end the delays and pass this important piece of legislation.

Connor Statement on Voter ID Legislation
January 27th, 2010As a candidate for statewide office in South Carolina, I understand the need to make sure our elections are fair and open. Fair elections are at the heart of what our men and women are fighting for in Iraq and Afghanistan today…ACORN liberals in the State Senate have chosen to play politics with this legislation and are trying to stall so that these important reforms cannot impact this year’s primary and general elections.
Connor Statement on Spears Retirement
January 26th, 2010“It was my great honor and pleasure to serve in the South Carolina National Guard under General Spears both in peace and in war. General Spears has led a lifetime of service to our state and to our nation, including the last eighteen years as Adjutant General. I hope that all South Carolinians will join me in thanking him for his service and wishing him Godspeed.”
Connor statement on record SC unemployment numbers
January 22nd, 2010I call on the Legislature to get our state economy back on firmer footing by eliminating the state corporate and income tax. This will spur economic growth in every sector of our economy by leaving more money in the hands of the businessmen who in turn create most of the jobs in our state. Texas has shown the way in this regard, and their continuing robust economy in the face of a national recession is a testament that this approach can work.
Statement on Larry Grooms decision
January 12th, 2010I would like to thank Senator Grooms for his service to our state, and for his important stands in the Governor’s race. Larry and I often attended the same TEA Parties, rallies and other conservative gatherings and garnered many of the same endorsements of those groups. We both talked about the importance of states rights, constitutionally limited government, individual liberty, and the value of life.
I wish Larry good luck and Godspeed in his future endeavors, and look forward to his continued great work in Columbia as a conservative Senator.

As Lieutenant Governor, job creation will be a primary focus of everything I do.”

Connor statement on H.4230 Pre-filing
December 17th, 2009Military retirees are not a burden on our health care system, bring significant skills to small businesses, and can be a major asset for any Governor. Having personally witnessed the sacrifice of our brave young men and women during my recent deployment in Afghanistan, this is an issue that is extremely important to me, and the driving force behind my push for this legislation over the past ten months.
